The Monaro Club Victoria is very excited to present a wide range of optional events designed to entertain all ages.  The proposed events below are currently going through our planning process and may depend on numbers to run.  Pre-booking for all optional events will be essential. 

As part of the 2024 Monaro Nationals, there will be an award for the Grand Champion.  The Grand Champion is someone who positively contributes to the event through participation, achievement and enhancement of the event.  Details of the Grand Champion award can be located by clicking here ->  Grand Champion Award Participation.

Program

Thursday 24th October 2024: Scrutineering session 1 from 12 - 5 pm

Scrutineering of cars to ensure they have been entered in the correct judging class will be done over 2 days (Thursday and Friday). Final judging will be conducted at the Show and Shine on Saturday.

All entrant vehicles will be scrutineered on either Thursday or Friday of the event. 

Time management will be a key element of the scrutineering process.  Once event registration closes on 24th July, 2024, the Judging Team will produce a time table for scrutineering on the Thursday 24th October and Friday 25th October.  Please indicate when you register, your preferred day for your car to be scrutineered.  Each entrant will be allocated an approximate time.

Friday 25th October 2024:

Scrutineering session 2 from 10am - 4:30 pm

Meet and Greet:  5:30 to 7:30pm:

Location: Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre 

This event will provide all Entrants the opportunity to get together and have a chat in the beautiful Performing Arts Centre.  Finger food will be served.   Drinks available at bar prices.   Tea and coffee available also.    Following this event, there are many dinner options in the Wangaratta CBD, varying from restaurants to clubs to take-aways.

Saturday 26th October 2024:  Monaro Nationals Show and Shine

Location:  Wangaratta Showgrounds

For the pleasures for all our Entrants and families, as well as the public attendees, we will have setup at the Show and Shine a variety of food vendors as well as coffee vans.

Also as an option to look at apart from the beautiful Monaros on display we will have Market stalls attending with a variety of local produce.  Other market stalls will include clothing, Holden Merchandise and handcrafted products.

Saturday 26th October, 2024    Partner and Family Bus Trip

The Partners & Family Bus Trip is now at maximum capacity.  Therefore, no further entries to the Partners & Family Bus Trip are possible.

For those who have registered for the Partners and Family Bus Trip, there will be two buses, departing the Wangaratta Showgrounds. Bus A will depart at 9.45am and Bus B will leave at 10.30am, to allow for staggered arrivals at key gourmet food establishments.   We will proceed to the iconic country village of Milawa which provides a wonderful array of gourmet food and specialty shops. 

• Our journey will take us firstly to the Milawa Bakery and Cafe, where a delicious morning tea will be served with prices ranging from $7 for a Devonshire tea (any size tea, one scone, jam and cream) to $9 (any size coffee, one slice/cake from the sandwich bar)
• There are also a number of specialty shops near the Milawa Bakery and Cafe to browse in, including The Olive Tree which showcases some of the best locally grown and crafted produce in Australia
• Bus A (9.45am departure) will move on to the Milawa Cheese Company where a family of cheese lovers turned cheesemakers create mind-blowingly-good artisan cheese in Victoria's high country.   Award-winning, small batch beauties for every kind of cheese lover - from creamy bries, to stinky washed rinds, to the freshest chèvre are on offer.
• Next door is the  Milawa Bread and Kitchen, where all loaves are made on site using rye, spelt wheat and whole wheat that is milled on site.
• On the other side of Milawa Cheese is a magnificent gift shop offering an excellent array of country gifts and specialty items
• Bus A will then go to Milawa Mustards -Gourmet Grocery Shop, before returning to Wangaratta Show and Shine.

• Bus B (10.30am departure) will  proceed from the Milawa Bakery and Cafe to Milawa Mustards -Gourmet Grocery Shop which produces a range of 12 seeded mustards ranging from Mild Honey mustard to Hot Chilli mustard.   The range also includes seasonal condiments such as jellies, jams, chutneys, marmalades and mustard oil salad dressings.   All of Milawa Mustards products are handmade on the premises, thus preserving the quality of this authentic cottage industry.
• Bus B will then go to  the Milawa Cheese Company and specialty shops
• Buses A and B will  return to the Show and Shine at the Wangaratta Showgrounds, between 12.30 - 1.00pm
• At the Show and Shine there will be a fabulous range of market stalls and food vendors to visit.  Local produce includes candles, strawberries and jam, jewellery, books, clothing, dog treats and many fresh food products, as well as a large variety of food and coffee vans.

Saturday 26th October, 2024:  Tappet Drag Race

Open to children 10 years and under, as well as adults who are young at heart.  We'll be hosting a Tappet Cover Drag Race, where young entrants can bring along their modified tappet covers to race along a specially built track with a starting line 1.0 metre high and 9.6 metre long!

Starting with scrutineering at 11.00AM, and racing at 1.00PM.  Entrants will have the opportunity to test and fine tune their machines from 11.30AM.  The racing will take place at the Wangaratta Showgrounds.

Saturday 26th October, 2024:  Evening Cruising Wangaratta

This informal cruise in and around the regional city of Wangaratta is an iconic Saturday evening activity in this area.   This will be a great opportunity for entrants to see the highlights of the city while providing residents the rare opportunity of seeing so many beautiful cars on the move.  Dinner will be at entrants’ discretion in Wangaratta.

Sunday 27th October 2024:  Winton Raceway Controlled Laps

For the 2024 Monaro Nationals, we have arranged for Entrants to be able to participate in controlled laps of the full circuit behind the Pace Car.  Several MCV members experienced the fun and the challenge of this event during the 2022 Holden Last Lap held at Winton and they can thoroughly recommend it.  Entrants will need only a registered and roadworthy Monaro and a current driving licence to participate.  We expect that Entrants will have the chance to join in at least two Pace Car sessions during the day.

Sunday 27th October 2024:  Alternative Cruise

This cruise is designed for those families not attending the Winton Raceway Driving Event.  Leaving Wangaratta, we will cruise through the magnificent farmland of regional Victoria, and stopping at a country pub for lunch.   Details of this cruise will appear soon on the website.

Sunday Evening 27th October 2024:  Presentation Dinner

Entries to the Presentation Dinner are now CLOSED.   As we have reached the limit of the venue, we are unable to take any further entries to the Presentation Dinner.  

Monday 28th October 2024:  Farewell Cruise  

The Meeting point for this cruise will be the Wangaratta Air Field with groups departing from 10.00am, where we will commence with a Poker run on our way to the final destination of MOVE Museum.

Coffee Van and light snacks available prior to departing.   Lunch at MOVE from 12.30 - 1.30 before the Grand Champion Award and Farewell.

Additional Monaro entry fee - $50

This option is only open to holders of a full adult entry pass.  We reserve the right to ask Entrants to demonstrate their ownership of additional Monaro entries.  Additional Monaros are eligible to participate in the Show and Shine only.  If people want their additional Monaro to participate in the Driving Events, then a full adult entry pass is required.  Please email 2024nationals@monaroclubvic.com.au advising you wish to enter an additional Monaro(s) and you will be provided with an additional on-line entry form to be filled out and payment made.

The Additional Monaro entry fee does not include access for another person to the Meet and Greet, Show and Shine, Presentation Dinner, Winton Raceway, Farewell lunch at Shepparton motor museum or an Entrant Shirt.
